I like to take a playful approach to painting using color and form as impressions or abstract indications of mood, feelings, places, and memories. It is exciting to see what happens emotionally when colors play against one another creating different vibrations. My abstracts are simple yet thoughtfully planned, guiding the viewer’s eyes around and through the painting. The enjoyment for me is that I’m building a world from my imagination; at other times I want to paint exactly what I see as realistically as possible. My media is acrylic paint on wood, with a gloss acrylic finish which adds depth to the paint layers and brings out the brightness of the colors.
I love animals and have a lot of fun doing animal portraiture. I will draw people’s pets from photographs using colored pencil, charcoal, and graphite on paper. I also like to do loose drawings in ink with brush and pen.
